Traveling to Dalaman
Travelling to Dalaman

Dalaman is a popular town on the South Western coast of Turkey that has attracted tourists from all over the world for many years. For activity seekers, there are few better locations in this country with many pursuits such as White Water Rafting, Scuba Diving and Paragliding awaiting the adventurous visitor.
If you are planning a trip to Dalaman then there are a number of ways to travel to this exciting town and naturally the most obvious and direct route is by air. Dalaman has its own international airport which is located some four miles from the town centre. From there, a bus will take you into the town or there are a number of taxis available which will take you directly to your hotel.
You will find that most airports in the United Kingdom have direct flights to Dalaman and if you find that your local airport does not, then you can simply connect to one of Britain`s major airports for an onward flight. Depending on where you travel from, you can expect a flight to take between four and four and a half hours.
As with all flights, there is a great deal of competition for air travel to Dalaman and as a result, prices can vary to some extent. Expect however to pay around £120 as a minimum per person for a flight with this rising to around £230 if you book at short notice during peak periods.
Dalaman has good road connections and is served by the Turkish D400 highway which links to the Mediterranean coastal towns. Therefore bus and coach travel is quite possible, however there is no working railway station in the town so it is not possible to get here by train.
Traditionally, travelling by road was seen as a cheaper option than by air but with so much competition from airlines at the moment, you may well find that this isn`t the case. Additionally, finding an organised coach tour that travels directly to Dalaman may be extremely difficult but it is relatively easy to find a trip to Istanbul which will leave you needing to find an onward bus journey.
If you are feeling particularly intrepid then you can piece together a trip involving rail, ferry and road. However, depending on connection times this could take up to twenty four hours and it may prove impossible to make any saving at all against the cost of a flight.
If you are not restricted by budget in any way then you can seek out the many companies that operate cruises to Turkey but expect prices for this mode of travel to start from around £2000.
Another way of getting into Dalaman is to fly to Rhodes and take the Hydrofoil. This is a circuitous route but it is used by some travellers as a way of making the journey a little different.
However you decide to travel to Dalaman there is much to reward you when you arrive. The many modes of transport into the town mean that a cheap holiday in Olu Deniz is quite achievable and you are sure to find your trip to be a truly memorable one
